Zebra Plant

Aphelandra

A Jungle Cat in Plant Form

Meet the Zebra Plant – a tropical drama queen with leaves so striking, even zebras are jealous. Sporting bold green foliage with crisp white stripes, this plant doesn’t whisper “look at me”... it screams it from the windowsill.

Native to the rainforests of Brazil, it brings major jungle vibes to any indoor space.

But wait, there’s more: when it's feeling fancy (and conditions are just right), it throws up a bright yellow flower bract that looks like a party hat. Is it necessary? No. Is it fabulous? Absolutely.

A little fussy about light and humidity, yes — but aren’t all icons? Keep it warm, keep it bright, and whatever you do, don’t let it dry out. In return, it’ll reward you with year-round style and major main-character energy

Sun
Give it bright, indirect light. It doesn’t like harsh sunlight, which can burn the leaves, but it also won’t thrive in low light. A spot near a bright window (but not in direct sun) is perfect.
Water
Keep the soil consistently moist, but not soggy. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. In winter, you can let it dry out a little more between waterings.
Temperature
They prefer temperatures between 18–24°C (65–75°F). Avoid cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.
