Hoya

Porcelain Flower

Hoyas, also known as Porcelain Flower or Wax Plant, are a species of plants native to the subtropical forests of Eastern Asia, Australia, and the Fiji Islands. Although they can vary in appearance in terms of leaf shape and variegation, they are distinguished by their thick, waxy leaves. Hoyas are highly sought-after houseplants that have been cultivated for over 200 years due to their desirable appearance, longevity, and spectacular scented blooms.

Hoyas are low-maintenance houseplants that can tolerate being root-bound better than other plants, but should still be repotted periodically when the plant outgrows the pot or to replenish its nutrients. Since they are a vining plant, Hoyas are often grown in hanging baskets, or with trellises or “teepees.”
