Known as the “king of flowers”, peonies are prized for their large, showy blooms, which may be cut to make beautiful bouquets. Peony flowers range in colour, from white to different shades of pink, lilac and red. The blooms are initially round and compact, and gradually grow and unfurl to reveal their opulent petals. Easy to care for, once established these robust plants will continue to adorn your garden for many years! Peonies start to bloom late spring or early summer and attract hummingbirds. Peonies are perennial planst that with proper care can last up to 100 years!

Peonies are prized and cultivated around the world, but are native to Asia, Europe and North America. There are more than 30 different species of peonies. Peony flowers have a variety of symbolic meanings in different cultures. Peonies symbolize bashfulness, romance, prosperity, and compassion.

Light shade or full sun. They like about 6-8 hours of sunlight every day. Adequate light will also better maximize blooms. Peonies prefer full sun in mild climates, light shade in hot climates.
Water
Ensure soil is moist or boggy. Be sure there is proper drainage. The soil should not dry out.
Temperature
USDA zones 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.
