Bring a prehistoric touch to your plant collection with the Sago Palm. Despite its name, the Sago Palm is actually a cycad rather than a true palm. Its stiff, glossy green fronds grow from a thick central trunk, creating a bold, symmetrical look that works beautifully as a statement plant. Slow-growing and long-lived, it thrives with plenty of bright light and careful watering.

Sun

Place in bright, indirect light or a location that receives some gentle direct sun. A bright window is ideal. Avoid suddenly moving the plant into intense direct sunlight, which can scorch the foliage.

Water

Allow the soil to dry well between waterings. Water thoroughly when the top several centimetres of soil are dry, then allow excess water to drain. Sago Palms are sensitive to overwatering and should never be left sitting in soggy soil.

Temperature

18–27°C (65–80°F). Keep away from cold drafts and protect from temperatures below approximately 10°C (50°F).

Toxic if ingested. All parts of the Sago Palm are poisonous, with the seeds being especially toxic. Keep away from children and pets.
